Yo! Wolves summer artwork features in Gallery exhibition

Art produced by the city’s children and young people as part of the Yo! Wolves summer programme is being celebrated in a free exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

The wide-ranging activities on offer through the holiday programme, organised by the City of Wolverhampton Council and funded by the Department for Education, included opportunities for children and young people to use their creative skills and produce their own pieces of art.

And a selection of this artwork is being exhibited in the Gathering Space throughout the whole of October during normal gallery opening hours, Monday-Saturday, 10.30am-4.30pm and Sundays 11am-4pm.

Councillor Christopher Burden, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “This year’s successful Yo! Summer Programme saw children, young people and families enjoy more than 34,000 opportunities over the six-week school holidays.

“Among the many activities on offer included a wide range of opportunities for children and young people to show off their creative side, and I would encourage everyone to come along to Wolverhampton Art Gallery to see some of the art that our talented youngsters produced over the summer holidays.

“I've always loved our art gallery, and seeing works by our young people really cements it as being at the heart of our community.”

He added: “The fun starts again soon with our Yo! Wolves October half-term activities now open for booking – places are limited and going fast so please book your activities as soon as you can. We are also busy planning for the Christmas holidays too!”
