WV Active unveils more Yo! Wolves summer attractions

More exciting free activities have been added to the Yo! Wolves summer programme thanks to the City of Wolverhampton Council's WV Active leisure centres.

For the first time this year, WV Active is providing over 2,000 hours of free activities for children and young people as part of the wider Yo! Wolves programme, including swimming, swimming lessons, SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) swimming sessions, family fun swimming, racket sports, Bikeability, athletics and youth gyms sessions.

Now more activities have been added to the programme, including Tik Tok Dances, Fit Families, and Multi sports and Scoot and Ride sessions for children and young people with SEND.

Several new activities are also available, including Fun and Games, Multi skills and Inclusive Cycling sessions, while SEND Move and Dance sessions will be added in the coming days.

The wider Yo! Wolves summer programme includes free activities – including food – for eligible children and young people with a Holiday Activities Fund (HAF) code, along with a comprehensive selection of free and paid for activities open to everyone. These include sports, arts and crafts, dance and drama workshops, fun days and around 50 Summer Reading Challenge events in libraries.

For more details, and to book places, please visit www.yowolves.co.uk. Activities are being added all the time, so please check back regularly.

Separately, Voice4Parents, the SEND parent carer support group, has received funding from the council for its Summer Short Break Leisure Programme, offering a range of activities that are inclusive for children and young people with SEND as well as their siblings. Please note, a Voice4Parents membership is required for these activities.

Councillor Chris Burden, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: "This is by far our biggest ever Yo! Wolves programme, and it's getting bigger all the time with the addition of more WV Active activities this week.

"There's sure to be something for everyone, with most of the activities free of charge, but please book your activities as soon as possible as places are offered on a first come, first served basis."

Yo! Wolves activities are available for children and young people up to the age of 18, or 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and care leavers. Free activities are available to Wolverhampton residents only, and age restrictions may apply.

Voice4Parents is a group of parents and carers of children and young people with SEND living in Wolverhampton. To find out more, please visit www.voice4parents-wolves.co.uk, www.twitter.com/Voice4p or search for Voice4Parents on Facebook.
