Council to stage careers fair for young people with SEND

A careers fair for children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) and an Education, Health and Care Plan will be held next month.

The City of Wolverhampton Council is staging the Career, Next Steps, Transition and Preparing for Adulthood Event at Wolverhampton Racecourse on Friday 2 December, 2022, from 9.30am-3.30pm.

Children, their parents and carers as well staff who support the children in their current educational setting can attend throughout the day to find out about the options available for further education, training or employment.

Councillor Chris Burden, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Work, said: "As a council and as a city, we are determined to do all we can to ensure that children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities are able to live their lives to the full.

"We are pleased to be able to hold this careers fair especially for young people in Year 9 and above with SEND and an Education, Health and Care Plan, and we'll have a range of exhibitors including colleges, providers, supported employers, social care settings and community groups attending on the day.

"This is the first time we have held such an event, and we hope it will give young people and parents the help and support they need as they make the transition from school and into adulthood."

Organisations which want to exhibit are invited to register their interest at https://forms.office.com/r/bi3U4dMvJW.
