The City of Wolverhampton Council's Play Service will be marking National Play Day with a free event for all the family.

It takes place at Bantock Park on Wednesday 2 August, 2023, from 11am-3pm. Children will be able to enjoy den building, ball games, water play, obstacle courses and a range of arts and crafts.

Playday is the national day for play, celebrated each year across the UK on the first Wednesday in August. The theme for this year’s Playday is playing on a shoestring – making every day an adventure.

Councillor Chris Burden, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: "This year’s theme focuses on the everyday low-cost or no-cost play adventures that children can enjoy, wherever they are.

"Play opportunities don’t need to involve expensive activities, costly toys or trips to far-off destinations. It is often the simplest ideas which offer the most fun, and are the most developmentally beneficial for children and young people.

"So whether you come along to Bantock Park or are doing something else, make this Playday, and every day, an adventure."

During the summer holidays, Wolverhampton Play Service will be offering an exciting programme for children, young people and their parents and carers. Activities on offer will include a Gaming Station, smoothie maker, bouncy castle, bike riding and team games.
